Mount Samat National Shrine, also known as Dambana ng Kagitingan (Shrine of Valor), is a historical site located on the summit of Mount Samat in Pilar, Bataan, Philippines. This shrine was erected to honor the courage and sacrifice of Filipino and American soldiers who fought against the Japanese forces during World War II, particularly in the Battle of Bataan. The memorial complex features a Colonnade and a towering Memorial Cross where visitors can take an elevator up to the viewing gallery inside the cross's arms and enjoy the panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, including Bataan, Corregidor Island, and on a clear day, even the city of Manila across Manila Bay. The Memorial Cross stands at 95 meters high with arms spanning 30 meters each. It symbolizes the peace and freedom achieved after the sacrifices of war. The shrine complex also houses a war museum with variety of historical artifacts, paintings of Philippine heroes and armaments used by the forces during the battle.
