Nine in ten children are given a smartphone by the age of eleven. How is unlimited access to the internet and/or social media affecting our children’s sense of well-being?
Current research suggests that the messages they receive during these formative years can shape our children’s beliefs about themselves and the world around them – sometimes adversely affecting their mental health.
In this film, we consider the dangers of smartphones and social media on our children’s mental health and what we can do as parents and teachers to help our children navigate the tricky landscape of smartphones, social media and well-being.
At Nip in the Bud, our goal is to ensure that every parent and professional has access to high-quality information about children’s mental health and neurodiversity. Our focus is on early intervention in primary and middle school-aged children.
