Student attendance system is needed to measure student participation in a course or module or even during examination/class test. Several automated attendance systems exist based on biometric recognition, but are costly or inefficient in term of processing time and low in accuracy. A university student attendance system with face recognition is therefore proposed. A student’s face should be successfully detected and recognised; then the attendance data is automatically recorded into the system report, which consists of Module/lecture details, student name, ID number, date, time etc. Face recognition systems require Mobile/IP camera and a server.
The outcome is to develop a smart face recognition system that will be used in a classroom/lecture session as an attendance system to seamlessly mark presence of lecturer and students.
Other possible, extra features can be integrated, such as face analytics (happy, sad, etc) and face liveliness (eye blink etc) & face mask, single webcam/IP camera or multiple camera.
