In this lecture we will see the FortiGate hardware Interfaces & LED ports & discuss their working.

This is a Fortigate Next Generation Firewall deployment series & is aimed & focused on the deployment aspect of the firewall.

Fortinet has a series of firewalls/NGFW's called Fortigate. These are further subdivided into categories according to business needs as follows:

Chassis
Ultra High-End
High-End
MD-Range
Entry Level
Virtual Machines
Data Center Firewall

This series will focus on Fortigate-60E Firewall & deploying it in our network. This is a entry level firewall & comprises of 7 LAN ports 2 WAN ports & 1 DMZ port.

The Ports 1 to 7 in this Fortigate firewall are bundled together but can be separated according to need.

WAN1 and WAN2 ports are DHCP client enabled
ports, meaning they will get an IP address as soon as they are connected to a port with Internet access.
