Session 2 of 3
Series Description: Professional development activities targeting early career hydrologists effectively highlight career opportunities within and beyond academia; however, these conversations often overlook how early career hydrologists can “find their niche” within the large variety of career opportunities. For this year’s Navigating Academic Waters webinar series the AGU Hydrology Section Student Subcommittee is developing a series of webinars and working sessions to help early career hydrologists develop essential skills that allow them to more effectively create the hydrologic niche that best aligns with their values and desired career goals.
Session Description: All early career hydrologists (ECR) have a personal brand. The question is, how well developed it is, and does it align with their personal and professional goals? Through a moderated panel discussion with researchers that have well-developed personal brands, we will define what a personal brand is and explain why it matters. We will also identify multiple strategies to help ECRs craft, build, and develop the personal brand that they desire. In a separate, complimentary event, we will host a working session that allows ECR hydrologists time to work on building their personal research brand using the strategy / platform of their choice.
