With a Huge Volume of Data being consumed, it becomes very difficult to manage which data is important and which we have to leave out. With the PARA method, you can transform the way you manage your data.
Before we talk about PARA it is important to get some background about the Second Brain and CODE method
What is the Second Brain?
Nowadays we consume a lot of information and not everything can be kept in mind. We can store notes and observations in digital form which we can call our second brain.
We will use the CODE method for managing the data.
i. Capture: Keep what resonates. i.e. Capture the Data that add value to your life.
ii. Organize: Save for actionability: Instead of focusing on organizing focus on action/usage.
iii. Distill: find the essence: Find the summary and meaningful info from the captured data.
iv. Express: Show your work; Share your Knowledge
PARA is an information management system developed by Tiago Forte and the same has been explained in his books Building Second Brain and The PARA Method.
With PARA Every piece of information you want to save can be placed into one of just 4 categories:
a. Project: Short-term effort in your work; Examples: Writing New Blog Post, Planning for Vacation
b. Areas: Long-term responsibilities Examples: Managing your Finance
c. Resources: Any Topic of Interest Examples: Book Reading, Finding Information about Latest Technologies
d. Archives: Inactive Items from Projects, Areas and Resources
