How to Upgrade a VMware Workstation VM's Hardware Compatibility to Version 17
If you have upgraded your VMware Workstation Pro software to version 17 from version 16 or older, your virtual machines will still be using the hardware compatibility mode from the previous version. This is not a big deal unless you want to use the newer upgraded hardware limitations or compatible products that 17 has to offer. Fortunately its an easy process but you will need to upgrade each VM one at a time and you will also have the option to clone the VM or upgrade the existing virtual machine.
