➡️ Most of you know by now that I'm way late to the punk rock scene, but this band technically is an exception to the rule! Many of you have requested "Mr. Chainsaw" from Alkaline Trio, which is from their 2001 release "From Here to Infirmary". Per one of our patrons, I was recommended a live, multi-cam version of the track that showcased Dan Andriano's bass lines a bit more audibly, and I could certainly hear the nuances in his precise-yet-bouncy playing style. I discuss his subtle bass line variations as the song progresses, his super linear bass melodies, and how he shows such intuitive restraint in some parts to contrast his "lead" bass playing style in others. I also discuss his very intentional stage presence throughout the performance, and some tips on balancing your own showmanship throughout a song.
