➡️ As much as I appreciated @slipknot when they were burgeoning onto the heavy metal scene in the early 2000s, I never once paid attention to what late bassist Paul Gray was doing underneath Slipknot's heavy riffs. It was a real treat to be recommended this bass play-through of "Duality" from many of you, and it allowed me to look under the hood and appreciate Paul's beautiful technique and seasoned dynamic control. It's easy to believe that bass lines in metal music can be void of any feeling or nuance, but watching Paul masterfully adapt to the needs of each riff with such intricacy really floored me. I discuss his picking technique, how he perfectly adjusts his articulations for different sections throughout the song, his "old school" metal bass tone (which was QUITE refreshing to hear), his melodic approach to the song's chorus, and so much more. May he rest in peace... 🙏🏼😌
