According to the latest Newspoll published by The Australian, Prime Minister Scott Morrison is the preferred Prime Minister compared to Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese 51 per cent to 29 per cent.

The poll also shows the Coalition are now up against Labor in the two-party-preferred vote for the first time since December 2019, leading 51-49 per cent.

Sky News host Paul Murray said much in the same way as the personal favourability vote for the prime minister during the bushfire crisis was “artificially low,” the opposition leader’s vote now is “artificially low”.

Liberal Senator Jim Molan told Sky News the prime minister does not get the approval rating “just because he happens to do the talking, it’s the quality of the talking and the quality of the policy”.
