"The next morning I woke up from the loud sounds of a snowstorm. Looking out the window I couldn't see anything, as everything was white. It was obvious that the snowfall had gotten heavier overnight. I had breakfast and then decided to go outside. I was running out of food and needed to go to the store. I put on my warmest clothes and went out the door. White flakes of snow flew into my face, the wind blew me off my feet, and the snowdrifts sometimes reached my waist. Despite all the difficulty of moving, I somehow made it to the center of the village and saw an open grocery store (which the owner of the house where I lived had told me about earlier). I shopped well, with a bag of groceries in each hand. I walked back to the house along the same path. Even though my entire trip to the store was not long, it seemed like a real test to me. In the house, the first thing I did was sit by the fireplace to warm up. Later, I cooked myself some food, had lunch, and then just lay on the bed, read a book, and dreamed. I didn't even notice how evening had come. Now I was worried about only one thing: how my beloved Rebecca would get to me tomorrow. After all, the weather had gotten much worse, and maybe the buses weren't running now. There were no mobile phones at that time, so I had no connection with her. I only knew that she would arrive early in the morning. Rebecca had the address of this little house where I was waiting for her. We hadn't seen each other for about three months, she was studying at a college in another country. I thought about it for a long time and was worried that she wouldn't come. I couldn't sleep, so I picked up my guitar and played all the melodies I knew. Then I found crosswords on the bookshelf, they also kept me busy for a while. Then I lay on the floor by the fireplace and just looked at the fire. It was already three o'clock in the morning. I knew I had to go to bed. So I did. I lay there and looked at the winter night sky through the window, and I didn't even notice how I fell asleep... I was woken up by a knock on the door. I opened my eyes, looked at the clock, it showed 7:30 in the morning. I thought I had dreamed it, but after a while the knock was repeated. And only a moment later, I realized who had come to see me. I joyfully and quickly ran to the door and opened it. But, to my surprise, it was not Rebecca who stood on the threshold, but a man I did not know." To be continued...
