Maqom and Modern Music: Lecture, Master-Class and Performance by “USTAZODA” Ensemble - 30/04/21
This online webinar was organised by the Uzbekistan Embassy in London in collaboration with and sponsorship of the British-Uzbek Society, and supported by the Uzbekistan's Committee on Interethnic Relations and Friendly Ties with the Foreign Countries. The event included the Opening remarks of Mr Said Rustamov, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the UK, and Rustam Kurbanov, Chairman of the Committee on Interethnic Relations and Friendly Ties with the Foreign Countries. The attendees had an opportunity to enjoy performance of the maqom 'Navo' by Abror Zufarov, a brief presentation on the history of maqoms and current trends by Ezoza Umurzakova, and a master-class by Abror Zufarov followed by Q&A. The event culminated in a live concert by Ustazoda Ensemble that included six pieces: songs 'Bozurgoni' and 'Hino Tanovar', maqoms 'Samoi Dugoh', 'Garduni Dugoh' and 'Sarahbori Buzruk'. The attendees particularly enjoyed live performance by the lead vocalists, Sahiba Abdullayeva and Abror Zufarov. The webinar was moderated by Rosa Vercoe, the BUS Communications Director.
