This video is all about the tricks of the trade (or should I say, avoiding the pitfalls of gravity) and understanding the fine art of restoring staircases.
Now, this staircase isn’t your average up-and-down job; oh no, it’s got layers—literally. Let me break it down for you:
1. The Pine Treads and Risers: Sturdy, classic, but let’s be honest, a bit of a fixer-upper.
2. The Franken-Staircase: A charming mix of the original staircase very enthusiastically tied in with newer bits. Think of it as the DIY version of blending eras—except it needs a professional’s touch to stop it looking like a time-travel experiment gone wrong.
3. The Oak Handrail: Ah, the pièce de résistance. This beauty is on the ground and first floors, and while it could be stunning, it’s currently suffering from an old finish trying desperately to hide years of wear and tear. Spoiler: it failed. So, a full strip and restoration is in order to bring it back to life.
This project has it all—different materials, tricky challenges, and plenty of room for a laugh or two. So, whether you’re a staircase enthusiast (no judgment) or just enjoy seeing someone else do the hard graft, this series is for you.
