OMFIF introduces - AI and Central Banks
Artificial intelligence is likely to be the most transformative digital technology of our lifetime. However, the role of AI in reshaping central banking has gone underexplored. The OMFIF AI workstream will be among the first to investigate the use of AI and machine learning technologies by central banks and compare this with traditional finance. It will offer a picture of how these institutions think, examining how AI will alter broader macroeconomic trends and the behaviour of central banks.
Given OMFIF’s position as a facilitator of public-private discourse, this project is particularly well suited to exploring the impact of AI on central banks’ operating models and core functions as well as the broader impact on the macroeconomy, monetary policy and financial stability.
