This is a video inside the closed down Nestle Fawdon factory in Newcastle. The site was built in 1958 by John laing for Rowntrees at a cost of 2million pounds, it is 26 acres and had 22 ovens when first built. Since 1988 it has been run by Nestle and been a major employer in the area, they made fruit pastilles, rolos, munchies, yorkies, smarties, and caramacs here. (caramacs were completely discontinued by Nestle at the end of 2023). The factory has now closed down with all work moving to plants in Czechia, Poland, and Bulgaria, with a loss of 475 jobs in the North East. The site has now been bought by Country Style Foods, who are a baking company with over 150 years in business. What a crazy explore this was, sneaking around with a few workers around in my hi viz, getting stuck in the revolving door, to casually walking past the security and waving, as if I'd just finished my shift 🤣🤣 I smelled like sugar for a good few hours afterwards.
