More than ever, this past year has highlighted the importance of getting kids – and adults – outdoors in nature. The Children & Nature Network (C&NN) and the National League of Cities (NLC), through the Cities Connecting Children to Nature (CCCN) initiative and its newly launched Green Schoolyards Technical assistance program, have offered cities and school districts an opportunity to transform asphalt schoolyards into safe, nature-filled outdoor spaces that benefit students, the community, and the local environment.

As one of the largest landowners in their district or city, a school system’s land management has a large impact on their local infrastructure and environment. Furthermore, as public land, schoolyards are untapped opportunities to engage current and future Corps in the construction and maintenance of these valuable spaces. Join leaders in the green schoolyard movement to strategize about ways Corps can become more involved. This Town Hall session will provide a forum for attendees to learn about the Green Schoolyards Initiative and the role that Corps can play in ensuring their success.
