POLES OF A MAGNET
The following activity highlights the place in which the magnets get attracted.
Place some iron filings on a table randomly.
Take a magnet and place it on the table for some time.
Then remove the magnet and observe where the filings are attached.
It can be observed that all the filings are attached at the two ends of the bar magnet.
Now remove the iron filings and repeat the process.
It can be observed again that the iron filings are attached only at the endings of the magnet.
These two ends of a magnet are called the poles of the magnet.
They are the points of the magnets where all the iron particles get attracted.
These points are generally present in the ends of a magnet.
