LayOut Dimension troubleshooting
This video is in response to this YouTube video • Smart dimensioning in SketchUp Layout by Ron Paulk. Ron runs a woodworking YouTube channel and uses SketchUp quite extensively. He was featured on the SketchUp Blog for a workbench he designed.
He was having an issue where the extension lines would extend somewhat randomly past the dimension line. I dig into exactly why this is happening to him, analyze the anatomy of a dimension, and also provide a few tips on how to save dimension configurations for later use on other projects.
(In the video, I said I'd share 4 tips for saving dimensions, but forgot to mention the fourth, lol. I was going to say, you can place common elements that you use "off the paper" in your workspace, and save that in your template. The elements that are not on the paper will not appear in exports, but they will be handy for sampling from if it's something you use a lot. But scrapbooks are a much cleaner way to do this, that's why they're there.)
