Hi, a 3D Animation helps understand the concept, and equation derivation for Magnetic Force between two straight wires under the following conditions:
a) the wires are of infinite length
b) wires are parallel to each other
You can clearly understand and master the Right Hand Rule for vector cross-product using the directions of current and Magnetic Field vectors, and the direction of the Forces created as a result of the current flow and Magnetic field. The equation for Magnetic Force is not difficult.
One can equally apply the LEFT HAND RULE, but we need to take care to use it correctly like below:
1. Forefinger for Magnetic Field vector direction passing through the wire-1 , which is actually the magnetic field caused wire-2
2. Middle finger for Current flow direction
3. Then the Thumb will show the resultant direction of FORCE acting on the wire-1. Similarly for wire-2.
Actually I prefer the LEFT HAND RULE as it is used in Motors
Have a great day
