In this episode, we have covered entire history of Shri Mookambika Devi Temple located at Kollur in Byndoor Taluk of Udupi District in Tulunadu region in the state of Karnataka, India. We also visited Souparnika River (Sowparnika) It is just 1 km from main temple.
Besides Karnataka, devotees from both Kerala and Tamil Nadu also visit this culturally and historically rich temple in large numbers. Temple’s uniqueness is devotees get holy glimpse of the Goddess’s three different forms in a single day. Goddess is adorned as Goddess Gauri (Morning), Goddess Laxmi (Afternoon), Goddess Saraswati (Evening).
Goddess Idol is made of 5 precious metals including Gold, Silver, Iron, Lead, Copper built by Sri Adi Shankaracharya who established 4 mathas across 4 parts of country with its Sringeri Matha as the first establishment.
A temple dedicated to the Ancient Mother Goddess Mookambika is located near the top of the Kodachari peak. To reach this place, you can hire a taxi available outside main Mookambika Shaktipeeth.

i) Pongal: It is made of rice and milk. It is light and tasty option
ii) Vada Sambhar
iii) Sheera (Kesari bath, Pineapple Halwa)
iv) Filter Coffee
b) In same hotel, we took our lunch. We ordered ‘Set Dosa’ plus SAGU.

At night, we also attended daily ritual where Goddess’s palanquin is taken out every night in the temple premises.
