FreeCAD: Python to open and read a text file with co-ordinates to plot geometry complete with GUI QT
Program a python macro complete with a GUI t open a text file full of coordinates, read each line and plot the geometry into a sketch to make a pocketing / drilling pattern. We use FreeCAD's powerful python API and the bundled in QT framework to create a simple GUI containing a button that will open a file dialog box allowing you to select a text file containing X,Y co-ordinates. We then read each of these lines picking up the coordinates and use them to create and position geometry on screen. We take this step by step. Creating a basic class, extending the QWidget object to allow us to create a window that stays on top. When then add a button to the window and connect up the button to load and read a test file.
