SM Tharman to contest Singapore's upcoming Presidential Election
Senior Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam announced on Thursday (June 8) he would be contesting the upcoming presidential election. Addressing the media, he said the role of the president is unique with duties beyond that of a Senior Minister or any minister.
He also said race "has not been an issue" for him, when asked if being from a minority racial group might put him at a disadvantage.
