If your friend guitarist plays the electric guitar - then the guitar effects pedal is an option for a gift. But if you don't know what pedal or effect this guitarist wants - it can be a failure! I'm very glad I have a DeLorean delay pedal (because I love Back to the Future movie). I'm also a fan of The Simpsons, so I love my Steamed Hams pedal. The first pedal is made by VVco Pedals. Guitar strings can be a great gift only if you know which strings this guitarist uses. Otherwise your gift will never be used. Once I was given strings of a completely different gauge than I use. And I even didn't start using them. And this problem is quite common. For example, the guitarist of the Black Sabbath Tony Iommi is given so many strings that he does not use that he has to make jewelry out of them and sell them online.

The original sustainer was called Ebow. But it is much more expensive. It seems to me that such a gift can be a good option. Yes, in most cases, it will be just a toy. A very small number of guitarists use this device. But still, this thing is a lot of fun to play with and experiment with.
