The topic of ports and shipping in Australia goes to the heart of the economy and associated human and social capital development at the national, state and regional levels across the country.

Presented by the CEO of Port of Newcastle, Craig Carmody allows us to reflect on the many decades of policy development in Australia, and to pose critical questions about future choices for many regions whose access to world trade is shaped by the nature and management of their port infrastructure.

Craig Carmody has extensive experience in shipping policy and strategy having led the Australian Government’s transport policy and been head of strategy, innovation and corporate affairs for Svitzer, the towage services division of global shipping giant Maersk Group.
