LS-DYNA TUTORIAL 8: Modal Analysis and Stiffened Panels

In this video, I am sharing the basics of modal analysis. First, we find the natural frequency of a simple shell plate which represents a bridge model. We verify the result with previous work by Yang et al., 2004.

The second part, we make the mesh of a stiffened panel from scratch. We use solid elements as the panel has different thickness in different parts. Also, because the connection line between the panel and the stiffeners are not represented nicely with shell elements. The geometry and the material properties of the stiffened panel is adopted from Kim et al., 2018.
