Amazon S3 No Longer Charges for Certain HTTP Status Codes
AWS has made a recent change that affects billing for Amazon S3 buckets. Previously, malicious users could make unauthorized requests to an S3 bucket and incur significant costs for the AWS account owner, who deployed the S3 bucket. With this recent change in May 2024, Amazon S3 no longer bills for these unauthorized requests, eliminating the cost risk that previously existed.
