Nikki Haley lands herself in hot water unveiling ‘free speech register’
GOP presidential hopeful Nikki Haley landed herself in hot water this week after she unveiled her plan for social media verification if she is elected president.
Ms Haley said in a Fox News interview social media companies would be forced to show the government their algorithms.
She also called for name verification for social media users.
She claimed the verification feature would eliminate Russian, Chinese and Iranian bots while gaining “some civility” among users.
“A free speech register – doesn’t sound problematic to me,” Sky News host James Morrow said.
