What is WordPress?
WordPress is the #1 content management system (CMS). This is just a fancy way of saying it organizes your content, images, blog articles, videos and more in a Microsoft Wordesque way so you don't have to know code to use it. Both major brands and small bloggers use WordPress to make their website these days.
Why are we using GoDaddy?
There are hundreds of places to buy a domain name aka a website address these days so it's hard to choose where! GoDaddy registers the most domains and has the best prices though. You need a domain name so people can type something in and find you on the web.
What are we using HostGator?
It's incredible important to choose a good web host because it's where your entire website (text, images, logo, etc) lives. HostGator has been in the business forever and I personally use them because they are very affordable and pin 1-click WordPress Installer.
Do I need to spend money to create a website?
Unfortunately, running a website isn't free, but that doesn't mean it's expensive either. Using our GoDaddy + HostGator combination it can cost as little as $5/month (the cost of a run to Starbucks or a lunch out) to build and run a professional website. WordPress is free, and it feels good making coffee & lunch at home once in a while.
Do I need to know code or technology...stuff?
Not in the least bit. That answer is easy. You just need to have a laptop with some high-speed internet, and the willingness to learn. WordPress lets you build a website drag and drop so you just enter your images and text, follow the directions, and you'll have a professional website.
Is any experience required to follow this tutorial?
No.
Do I have to listen to the music?
No, mute your laptop. The directions remain. All music is from YouTube creators studio.
Why is this video no-talking?
In the past 6 months I've received several emails from beginners who had trouble following longer videos where the author talks the whole time and I'm definitely guilty of rambling. People just wanted a simple do-this do-that guide on how to make a website. You ask, we deliver.
