Can I drive with a failing oxygen sensor O2?
While it’s possible to drive with a failing O2 sensor, it’s not advisable.
While the damage may seem small initially, the longer you drive with a bad oxygen sensor, the worse the damage will become. Doing so can lead to reduced performance, poor fuel efficiency, and could even damage other components like the catalytic converter. It’s best to address the issue promptly.
A malfunctioning oxygen sensor can decrease engine performance, increase fuel consumption, and lead to excessive emissions.
Eventually, you may experience rough idling, poor acceleration, engine misfires, an illuminated check engine light, and failed emission tests.
