Welcome to my new video on HuKnowz where I learn new things and share them here for my future self and all the topics I am interested in,
This is one of it and which interests me most and a complete mixture of workout and outing at same time, that is trekking.
I love all the aspects of trekking like meeting new people hanging out with friends building core and a full body exercise, seeing new places a view from the top of the mountain, everything about trekking is so much fun
This was a trip in January 2023 organised by pune adventure group which had people from all age group,
The place chosen for it was Vichitragadh
Vichitragadh is a lesser-known trekking destination near Pune, located in the Sahyadri mountain range of Maharashtra, India. It's known for its scenic beauty, lush greenery, and relatively unexplored trails, making it an ideal spot for adventure enthusiasts looking for offbeat trekking experiences.
Location:
Distance from Pune: Approximately 70-80 kilometers (varies based on the route taken).
Accessibility: The base village for Vichitragadh trek is often reached via private vehicles or hired taxis, and then the trek begins from the village itself.
We started from Kondwa in a private bus in morning around 8 and reached around 11am with a short breakfast
Trekking Experience:
Difficulty: Moderate to Difficult. The trek involves moderately steep ascents and descents, with some challenging sections.
So we prepared at the base and had a local guide with us leading the way so that we can get more information from him
Duration: Typically, the trek takes around 2-3 hours to ascend and about 1-2 hours to descend, but this can vary depending on individual pace and weather conditions.
Once atop we had a great time exploring the different corners on the top which was made with the purpose of watch towers in historic times
Best Time to Visit: The ideal time to trek is during the post-monsoon season (September to November) or winter (December to February), when the weather is pleasant and the surroundings are lush green.
Highlights:
Scenic Beauty: The trek offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes, including lush green hills, valleys, and the picturesque beauty of the Sahyadris.
Historical Significance: Some trekkers explore the historical remnants or forts in the vicinity, adding a cultural aspect to the trek. In the times of Shivaji maharaj it was one of the fort assigned to keep an eye on the enemies was what we were told
Tips for Trekking:
Pack Essentials: Carry sufficient water, snacks, a first aid kit, proper trekking shoes, and other essentials based on the duration of the trek.
Local Guidance: If unfamiliar with the trail, it's beneficial to have a local guide or someone experienced to navigate the path safely.
Safety Measures:
Weather Check: Keep an eye on weather forecasts and avoid trekking during heavy rains or adverse weather conditions.
Group Trekking: It's often safer and more enjoyable to trek in a group, especially in unfamiliar terrains.
Once we were at the base camp we have a great lunch of pithl bhakri (a Marathi dish made of gram flor and roti from bajra flour)
Flowed by tea
Vichitragadh offers an exciting and relatively unexplored trekking experience for those seeking adventure away from more popular destinations.
