What if one day we could never play the original Halos again? Although classic Halos are available in several states using several techniques, but to what extent has it truly been preserved? Emulation through backwards compatibility, porting, remasters; all can deliver different variations of the same game. Some preserve the gameplay experience, while others preserve the social experience. Thus, which version of Halo should we be protecting? The originals, the ports, the remasters, or all of the above?
Today we explore what it means to preserve Halo, and what the future of Halo's legacy support should entail.
