Polar Coordinates is a coordinate system where in a point in 2D space is specified by the radial distance from the origin of the coordinate system, and the angle subtended onto a reference (polar) axis. It is usually used to describe 2D motion. It is used sometimes as opposed to using a Cartesian coordinate system. It has certain benefits in solving problems of mechanics where circular motion is involved. In this video I discuss the forward and backward transformation equations involving polar coordinates and Cartesian coordinates. I also obtain the expression of position vector, velocity vector and acceleration in the said polar coordinate system.
