I was asked to do a tutorial about extracting patterns of an image. First I thought this isn't really necessary for game dev but I realized that I used that method pretty often: to get a particular pattern out of an image. It hasn't to be an tattoo itself. Very often you find a pattern or symbols which would be useful for your texture (characters, houses, handmade elements). I used this method for all of our ornaments and patterns for Kordex as well. I think to vectorize your pattern is as well a very important part of this tutorial.
