Welcome back, Educators.
We’re going to explore all about the custom date and time formats.
Here we have the same date and time but with different formats.
To start, click Custom number format on the Format menu.
If we like to show the whole name of the day, month, and full numeric year,
We type 4d for the day, 4m for the month, and 4y for the year.
If we like to show the abbreviation name of the day, month, and two-digit year,
We type 3d for the day, 3m for the month, and 2y for the year.
If we like to show the day and month with leading zero,
We type 2d for the day, 2m for the month.
We could use the forward-slash or the hyphen symbol as a date separator.
We could use the colon or the dot as a time separator.
We could insert emojis into the date and time format.
We’ve used the CHAR formula to create these emojis.
To show the 12-hour clock, type am/pm.
With a single h placeholder, the leading zero doesn’t appear.
We could edit the preset formats to fit the need.
The data in the cell with a custom format is number, and we could use the formulas to make the calculations.
Try to format the day and month without the leading zero,
The year with two-digit,
And the time with just hours and minutes.
That’s it, have fun. Thanks for watching.
