When I tried out Brave search, a new privacy search engine, I started to notice some similarities to DuckDuckGo.
Several UI elements, website design and text content seemed very similar to a certain other private search engine.
Brave Search is marketing itself as independent from Google's or Bing's search indexes but upon closer inspection this isn't the whole truth.
Brave's dubious marketing claims left me sceptical and the collection of more specific usage data than their competitors coupled with some missing features didn't help.
At least the design feels more modern to me than DuckDuckGo and the search result quality doesn't seem bad either.
