Many unique creatures, plants and animals are found in our nature. One such unique species is firefly. Fireflies glowing in the dark mesmerize everyone. Their twinkling light not only arouses curiosity in the minds of children, but it has also been a subject of research for scientists. Fireflies have been an important part of our natural landscape for centuries. To bring this beauty of fireflies in front of people, Ambrish More started the Firefly Festival at many places in Maharashtra in the year 2012. But recently Ambrish More has demanded the government to stop this festival. He says that people participating in the festival are harming the fireflies. Due to human and environmental reasons, the number of fireflies is continuously declining, which is a matter of serious environmental concern.

हमारी प्रकृति में कई अनोखे जीव-जंतु, पेड़-पौधे और पशु-पक्षी पाए जाते हैं. ऐसी ही एक अनूठी जीव-प्रजाति है- जुगनू. अँधेरे में चमकते हुए जुगनू हर किसी को मंत्रमुग्ध कर देते हैं. उनकी टिमटिमाती रोशनी न केवल बच्चों के मन में उत्सुकता जगाती है, बल्कि वैज्ञानिकों के लिए भी यह शोध का विषय रही है. जुगनू सदियों से हमारे प्राकृतिक परिदृश्य का एक महत्वपूर्ण हिस्सा रहे हैं। जुगनुओं की इस सुन्दरता को लोगों के सामने लाने के लिये अम्बरीश मोरे ने वर्ष 2012 में महाराष्ट्र में कई स्थानों पर जुगनू महोत्सव की शुरुआत की थी. लेकिन हाल ही में अंबरीश मोरे ने सरकार से इस महोत्सव को बंद कराने की मांग की है. उनका कहना है कि महोत्सव में शामिल होने वाले लोग जुगनुओं को नुकसान पहुँचा रहे हैं. मानवीय और पर्यावरणीय कारणों से जुगनुओं की संख्या में लगातार गिरावट आ रही है, जो एक गंभीर पर्यावरणीय चिंता का विषय है।
