How to Add Task Manager Option in Taskbar Context Menu In Windows 11
Subscribe for the next update notification:
When Windows 11 was introduced, it looked like it was Windows 10 with cosmetic interface design changes that only affected the shell of the OS. But in fact, a lot of features have been removed, in particular, some of them made up the bulk of previous operating systems that a large circle of users was used to. In the end, taking into account their criticism, Microsoft reacted to the negative reaction about this and began to gradually return them. However, this process is extremely slow.
Convenient options that have been removed from the new OS include the ability to quickly access the Task Manager directly from the context menu of the bottom panel of the desktop. While this feature will most likely be returned in Windows 11 builds, it can be added using the Registry Editor.
How to add an option using the registry editor?
Since we will use the Registry Editor to add the Task Manager, it is recommended that you create a restore point (or a copy of the registry) in case you make a mistake and need to return to a previous system state. Open the search bar by clicking on the corresponding icon on the taskbar and enter "Create a restore point". In the system properties window that appears, click on the "Create" option, enter a description of the current state of the OS, start the process and wait for it to complete.
Click the magnifying glass icon again and type Regedit in the search bar. If results are displayed, run as administrator.
In the editor, navigate to the following location, expanding the sections in the left pane:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FeatureManagement\Overrides\4
Right-click subsection 4 and select New - Section. Name the new partition 1887869580.
Then right-click on the section 1887869580 to open the menu and select New - DWORD (32-bit) Value. Name the parameter EnabledState, double-click its properties and enter 2 in the Value field. Save the changes by clicking on "OK".
In the same way, create the following DWORD (32-bit) option, name it EnabledStateOptions, and enter 0 in the Value field.
Save your changes, exit the registry, and restart your computer. After starting Windows 11, right-click on the taskbar to call the context menu, in the list of which the Task Manager will already be added. If you encounter any problems, you can restore the system using a previously created restore point.
