beat detection 3 (simple line, beats, bpm initial try)
This is the 3rd video in a set. Here we finally do something to try and detect the beats and beats per minute (bpm). The waveform display is a sampling of the wave data averaged in chunks. We further simplify the wave data by creating a simplified line of the wave form. From the simplified line we consider the peaks beats. the change in time between the beats is something we can divide 60 by to figure out bpm. to get all the bpm in the same range we quantize (or normalize) the bpm value with a HI and LO range. the average is the song bpm, or at least we expect it to be... we have to play around with the line simplify tolerance...
