Vernal Pool in the Desert ~ Red Rock Canyon
Its mid-November in the Mojave Desert, and this is the last vernal pool still containing water in the Red Springs area of Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. Water seeps in from a nearby spring and supports an amazing variety of aquatic life, including Seed Shrimp, Springsnail and even Mayfly nymphs.
