IVF procedure is not painful. So what we do in day 2 or day 3? We do a transvaginal scan which is done in OPD and that doesn't require any anesthesia. So once the scan is done, we start you on certain hormonal injections for about a period of 10-12 days during which you will have to take injection which can be taken either subcutaneously or intramuscularly. So at the end of about 13th or 14th day we go ahead and do the egg pick up ,i.e., the oocyte aspiration. This is procedure which is done under very short anesthesia. So may be the procedure takes about 10-15 minutes and anesthesia will last for about 10-15 minutes. After that there will be a recovery phase and you will be sent home in the evening.
