Hi, I’m Aashika Vishwanath, Founder of Acadaimy. I started this channel in 2019, at the height of the pandemic. And thanks to nearly 7,000+ loyal subscribers across 70+ countries, this channel is now thriving with rich engagement. I appreciate the great feedback on every one of the videos. I’m delighted to see how you’re deriving value in learning AI, ML and the basics of programming through the bite-sized videos in this channel.

In the past videos, I’ve typically provided instruction on a particular topic in AI, or have featured an interview with an AI expert. In this video, I wanted to do something different. Based on the many comments and feedback I’ve received, I captured the essence of all there is to learning AI step-by-step and outline them into an easy-to-read short book.

I’ll walk you through what’s in this book so you can decide if perhaps this can be a handy guide for you. This book is available in Amazon Kindle version in many countries, and if you’re in the US, there’s also a paper-back version available for you on Amazon.com. You should be able to get a copy of the book typically for $0.99 or lower. So, be sure to check it out.

Now, let’s unpack the content of this book:

At the outset, I’ve written a couple of pages about Why I wrote this book – the story that had led me in this journey of AI. Hopefully that provides you some inspiration!

I’ve organized the content of this book in 15 chapters. Let me walk you through the details.

In Chapter 1, I provide an introduction to Artificial Intelligence, answering questions such as Why we need AI, if AI will take over the world as some fear, much-needed Ethics in AI etc.

In Chapter 2, I dive deep into the Artificial Intelligence Market, the current adoption, growth, the demand that currently exists in AI, the impact AI has already created, the interdisciplinary nature of AI in our society etc.

In Chapter 3, I discuss the trends in AI and the attractive career opportunities that exist. I uncover a few of the exciting breakthroughs and trends such as GPT-3, which is a project by OpenAI that allows the machine to make sense out of human language. With GPT-3, AI can literally write written words for you, in nearly as good as a way a human would write – or at least it’s getting there fast!

I also discuss how AI applications are helping with Cybercrime, autonomous vehicles, and the fascinating world of Metaverse and the fields of crypto, NFT, Web3, DeFi, blockchain etc.

I’ve also attempted to outline data on attractive salaries that a career in AI might provide you.

I then go into nuances of AI in Chapter 4 – the various branches such as Natural Language Processing, Speech Recognition, Computer Vision – a few applications such as Autonomous Systems etc., Pattern Recognition, Machine Learning etc.

In Chapter 5, I discuss Big Data, why Data is useful and Data as it pertains to AI.

Chapter 6 is all about Machine Learning, and a few examples of this fascinating field of AI.

People have often come to me saying they have heard of all these terms – Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning and Data Science, and have wondered how exactly to understand the differences between them. Chapter 7 is all about the definitions AI, ML, DL and DS and how they differentiate from each other.

In Chapter 8, I teach you how to build your first Machine Learning Model – step-by-step. I walk you through examples, provide you code snippets as well as illustrate expected outputs, so you can try it yourself.

Next, I discuss Natural Language Processing in Chapter 9, with motivation, examples, how it works – breaking down processes such as part-of-speech tagging and chunking, tokenization, stemming, lemmatization, named entity recognition, natural language generation etc.

Chapter 10 is one of my favorites – speech recognition. I discuss how machine accounts for slangs/accents etc., as well as discuss AI tools you might be familiar with such as Alexa, Siri etc.

Chapter 11 is all about Chatbots, an important application of AI. I dive deep into types of chatbots such as Normal ones and NLP ones, role of NLP in chatbots etc. I take the foundation described in Chapter 11 and illustrate how to create your first NLP chatbot using Google’s Dialogflow in Chapter 12. I discuss concepts such as Training Phrases, Context, Lifespan, Entities etc.

In Chapter 13, I present Computer Vision – what it is, early history, how it works, applications of computer vision etc.

Finally in Chapter 14, I present an application of AI – in the fascinating field of Biotech and Healthcare.

I conclude this introductory book on AI with how you can take the learnings from here to dive deeper, including several resources you can tap into.

I hope you found this preview to the book useful. If you've found the book useful, you can get the book from my author page at amazon.com/author/aashika. Thank you!
