Celebrating a New Chancellor and a Storied Tradition
In keeping with a decades-long tradition, Lee H. Roberts was officially installed at Carolina's 13th chancellor as part of the University Day celebration. University Day marks the laying of the cornerstone of Old East — the campus’ first building and the oldest state university building in the nation. Since 1957, new chancellors have been sworn in to coincide with the University Day festivities.
