Sky News host Rowan Dean has slammed the Biden administration’s retaliatory attacks on Iranian-backed militias in Syria and Iraq as “progressive madness” after they informed the Iraqi government before carrying out the strikes.
Three US troops were killed and dozens were injured last week after Iranian-backed militants launched a drone strike in Jordan.
US President Joe Biden launched counterattacks on Friday, targeting 85 command and control centres, as well as rocket missile storage facilities.
National Security Council spokesman John Kirby confirmed they warned the Iraqi government about the strikes however the nation’s army still condemned the airstrikes, calling the air assault a “violation of Iraqi sovereignty”.
“Imagine Ronald Regan – he responded immediately, decisively and with surprise,” Mr Dean said.
“The element of surprise so the enemy, and Iran is the enemy, never knows where you are going to hit them if they dare pop up again.
“We have completely got … the West’s approach to Iran completely wrong.
“The head of the snake is Iran, it needs to be cut off and that’s the end to it.”
