Federal and B.C. govts launch earthquake early warning system – August 29, 2024
In Vancouver, federal ministers Jonathan Wilkinson (natural resources) and Harjit Sajjan (emergency preparedness) announce that the Earthquake Early Warning (EEW) system for western Canada is fully operational. The system will also be available to eastern Ontario and southern Quebec later this year.
They are joined at the news conference by Bowinn Ma (B.C.’s minister of emergency management and climate readiness) and Wilson Miao (MP for Richmond Centre).
