Apple Oddities: 1st-Generation Apple TV
Welcome to Apple Oddities, where we take a look at strange Apple products, vintage and modern. Today's episode features the original, and very weird, Apple TV.
Another thing you can do with this Apple TV that I forgot to mention in the video is AirPlay - both to the device, and from it to an external speaker. The PowerBook could send music to it just fine, but a modern iPhone could not.
This Apple TV may have also been slow due to its hard drive failing or some other internal problem, which is another advantage of the flash storage-based newer Apple TVs.
