The Samsung Galaxy A53 is the successor to last years very popular A52. It looks almost identical to the A52 apart from the fact that between last year and now, the size of the box reduced, there was no power adapter included, and the 3.5mm headphone slot also disappeared.
And guess what? In Ghana this phone sells for over 3,600 cedis! That’s not cheap by any standard! At that price, you can get an iPhone 11 Pro. So I have a dedicated comparison of the Samsung Galaxy A53 and iPhone 11 Pro Max coming up so kindly subscribe and turn on all notifications if you haven’t so you don’t miss that one.
But it’s not all bad because there are some solid reasons to buy the Samsung Galaxy A53 and I’m going to share all these and more, coming up next.
First of all, let’s look at the improvements made. The Samsung Galaxy A53 has a bigger battery. Last year we had a 4,500 mah battery and this year, battery size has been increased to 5,000 mah.
Now a bigger battery and the new processor which is more efficient at battery usage and provides slightly better performance means that you are going to get longer battery life on the Samsung Galaxy A53 than on the A52. And in real life use, I felt this battery was almost impossible to drain. I charge it once in 3 days and use it for watching all my videos and playing games.
In terms of design, it looks as beautiful as the A52, and the colors are also very beautiful this year. It has almost the same specs as that of the A52.
You get an IP67 rating for water resistance, the same camera setup, stereo speakers, and a slot for expandable storage. You can choose to use two sims and no SD card or use an SD card and one SIM card.
Surprisingly though, Samsung took out the 3.5mm slot. I don’t know what kind of research went into that decision, but I find it very baffling.
I also find it very baffling that a midrange device doesn’t come with a charger included in the box. At this price of 450 dollars, this is very weird if you ask me.
