How To Downgrade WordPress Version 2024 - (FAST & Easy!)
Learn how to downgrade WordPress version step by step. Downgrading, changing, and reverting WordPress to a previous version is a quick and easy process.
Let's get started. To start, I’m here in the WordPress dashboard. Hover over the plugins tab in the left-side menu. Click add new plugin. In the search field, type in wp downgrade. You’ll see the WP Downgrade WordPress plugin showing here. Click the install now button. Once it is done installing, click the activate button. Once it’s done activating the plugin you’ll be on the plugins page.
In the left-side menu hover over Settings. Click WP Downgrade. It’ll now pull up the WP Downgrade Options page. You’ll see the current version of WordPress showing here. Click the WP Releases link. You’ll be on the WordPress release page.
You can scroll down and find the version of WordPress you want to go back to. Let’s say I want to go to version 5.9. I’ll click 5.9. It’ll pull up all the versions of 5.9. I want to go back to WordPress version 5.9.10. Just copy this number here for whatever WordPress version you want to go back to. Go back to WordPress. I’ll paste it in to replace what is there with the WordPress Target Version. Click the save changes button.
You’ll see this notification saying in order to perform the upgrade/downgrade to WP and the version of WordPress you are wanting to go back to please go to Update Core. Click the Up/Downgrade Core button.
Where you see Re-install and the version of WordPress you selected to go back to click the button. It’ll begin downloading and updating the WordPress version. Once it is done, you’ll be on the WordPress version page and you’ll see the WordPress version you selected is now active. If you scroll down to the bottom of this page, you’ll see the new WordPress version you downgraded to is now showing.
