Pakistan State Oil (PSO) begins importing Euro 5 standard fuel. Government has ordered ban on import of petrol and diesel of less than Euro 5 standards.The current Euro 2 standards fuel which became internationally obsolete by year 2000 were officially adapted in Pakistan in July 2012. Pakistan was 20 years behind the rest of the world as far as emission standards were concerned.
European emission standards define the acceptable limits for exhaust emissions of new vehicles sold in the European Union and EEA member states. The emission standards are defined in a series of European Union directives staging the progressive introduction of increasingly stringent standards.
