Many solo entrepreneurs, especially when we are starting out, waste a lot of time and money and energy and effort on platforms that we don't actually need. And, it's thing. And it's, it's quite understandable because it's easy to fall prey to those false marketing claims of if you are not using this platform, You're lost.
You can, you should quit your, your business right now, because it will never work without this platform. And there is also the factor of, especially in the beginning, but I think it stays with us. It's, it's scary. And we want to procrastinate and we want to procrastinate in a way that feels productive.
And it, this is that setting up a lot of platforms, paying for those platforms. So you feel like, Oh, I'm paying for these, Business is happening. No, it's not and Yeah, I would like to urge you to avoid these You can, you can run a business without social media. You can run a business without email marketing.
You can run a business without a website. Find the amount of simplification that works for you. And before you spend time learning a new platform, or you spend money, especially, never, please never spend a, never purchase a yearly subscription up front. Pay for the monthly. Use it for a few months. And if it really serves you, then go for a yearly.
Anyway, so find the platforms, the apps, that feel not so productive for you. get rid of those, cancel your subscription. And please don't move to another platform instead as procrastination or like, like feeling the need that you need something. Try and live without those for a while and see if you really needed those in the first place, or you really did not need those in the first place, and you were just hooped by glamorous marketing.
the truth is these having or not having these platforms never made or broke business. It's business model that does that. so you're not seeing income like investing in a platform or a new system or something. We'll not fix that problem. Really occasionally, it might be part of that. Like you really just really need a booking system because you're wasting too much time emailing back and forth with people about when you're going to meet for that one on one.
But apart from really small instances like those, it's, it's not the case. It's, look for business model solutions, not tech solutions. Tech is just, In a good case, it's just automating a lot of things for you that you need to repeat, but business model decides if you need to repeat that or not. If you're just repeating something that is not even necessary for your income, or it's, counterintuitive, then it's a waste of time, money, effort.
Anyway, that's my warning. wish I knew that when I started out, and I wish a lot of people knew that. would notice when they're starting out. So if you feel like this was true for you, or this is true for you, and you know, some friends who are just starting out, send this video their way. I would love to spare these years of frustration and thousands of dollars of wasted money for people who are just starting out.
