In the narrative of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, the storyline kicks off with the President of the NUS crash-landing in Dogtown, a self-governed district in Night City. Tasked with the mission, you are employed by her Secret Service detail to effect her rescue. The expansion introduces two crucial characters: Song So-Mi, a skilled NUSA hacker portrayed excellently by Christine Minji Chang, and Solomon Reed, a reactivated sleeper agent played by the iconic Idris Elba.

Elba, in his role, taps into his city-wise American accent, reminiscent of The Wire, albeit this time on the opposite side of the law. His portrayal of a secret agent, Night City's premier spy, is compelling, creating a desire to trust him despite the inherent ambiguity that comes with his profession. Phantom Liberty centers around pivotal decisions, and Reed adds complexity to these choices.

Returning to the game, Keanu Reeves reprises his role as Johnny Silverhand. Impressively, his performance seems even more refined this time, perhaps owing to the enriched material provided by Phantom Liberty. Unlike previous iterations, Reeves explores Silverhand's melancholic facets, delving into the character's identity as a failed revolutionary confined within someone else's body. The expanded narrative allows Reeves, Idris Elba, and Christine Minji Chang to showcase the advanced character animations of Cyberpunk 2077, setting it apart from other high-budget RPGs. In the convergence of performance and technology, CDPR successfully infuses a poignant and moving quality into the game.
